Daniel Reilly, a technician at JP D’arcy’s Garage in Little Island, Cork, was recently diagnosing a Mercedes with an intermittent non-starting condition. The 2014 Mercedes A180 was equipped with a 1.6 litre petrol engine and an automatic transmission. The customer reported that the car would intermittently not start, but would then start after a short wait. When it was not starting, there were numerous electrical faults: the driver’s door would not open, the full beam headlights would stay on, and other odd electrical faults throughout the car.
